The Classics: Subway Tile

Subway tiles never seem to go out of style- and it is easy to see why. Clean, simple, and affordable, these tiles often provide the backdrop to other elements in a space. What we are seeing change, however, is the grout. It is incredible that the smallest detail like grout colour can dictate a mood or feeling in a kitchen or bathroom, yet the deep greys we are seeing emerge are doing just that! Giving a strong outline to these white tiles is chic and a bit edgy and we are loving this new take on an old classic!

Take a look at some of our favourites:

gray cabinets, white subway tile with dark grout, open shelves

I love the mix of materials and colours in this kitchen. The black rangehood works beautifully with the charcoal grout on the subway tiled splashback.

White subway tiles , dark grout. Black framed shower. Stunning

Subway tiles take on a fresh look when they're laid in a herringbone pattern that runs diagonally.
